NCT01188733
Octreotide is used to control variceal bleeding. However, octreotide has to be given through the vein and is effective for less than two hours. In this study the investigators determined whether a long-acting preparation of octreotide (Sandostatin LAR)given as an intra-muscular injection every month could decrease portal pressure, and thus be used to prevent variceal bleeding in patients with cirrhosis.
NCT01169168
In this study patients with 1. chronicle liver diseases * primary biliary cirrhosis * primary sclerosing cholangitis * alcoholic liver cirrhosis * hepatitis b or C * Wilson's disease * cryptogenic cirrhosis 2. Septic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) * sepsis * septic shock 3. patients after lysis should be included Blood samples will be gathered from the patients to measure fibrinogen with 5 different methods. The methods are: * Clauss fibrinogen * PT-Derived fibrinogen * immunoturbidimetric method * heat-precipitated fibrinogen * Schulz fibrinogen The result of these tests will be correlated with laboratory values which are gathered in routine and the clinical outcomes.
NCT00567216
Gastric variceal bleeding has a very high rebleeding rate even after endoscopic variceal injection of cyanoacrylate (GVO) which is considered the first choice of endoscopic treatment. Beta-blocker (BB) is effective to lower portal pressure. We hypothesized combination of GVO and BB can further decrease the rebleeding rate.
