NCT00112294
The primary purpose of this clinical research study is to learn if patients treated with the combination of Taxane/Carboplatin plus Cetuximab (C/T/C) have a longer progression-free survival than patients treated with Taxane/Carboplatin (T/C) alone. The safety of this treatment will also be studied.
NCT00085709
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cytarabine and daunorubicin, work in different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing and die. Monoclonal antibodies, such as gemtuzumab ozogamicin, can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining chemotherapy with gemtuzumab ozogamicin may kill more cancer cells. It is not yet known whether induction therapy using cytarabine and daunorubicin is more effective with or without gemtuzumab ozogamicin or whether postconsolidation therapy using gemtuzumab ozogamicin is more effective than no additional therapy in treating de novo (first occurrence) acute myeloid leukemia. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is comparing two different regimens of chemotherapy and monoclonal antibody therapy to see how well they work in treating patients with previously untreated de novo acute myeloid leukemia.
NCT01297491
The purpose of this two-stage phase II study is to assess the efficacy of BKM120, as measured by determining the progression free survival (PFS), in patients with pretreated metastatic Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) that exhibits PI3K pathway activation. BKM120 will be investigated in two groups of NSCLC patients according to the histology of the cancer: squamous and non-squamous.
NCT01355484
The purpose of this study is to determine if the investigational drug GTx-024 can help subjects with non-small cell lung cancer increase physical function and maintain or gain muscle, also called "lean body mass".
NCT01137968
The purpose of this is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of imetelstat (GRN163L) as maintenance therapy for patients with advanced stage NSCLC who have not progressed after 4 cycles of platinum based therapy. Participants will be randomized in a 2:1 ratio to imetelstat + standard of care versus standard of care alone. Participants who received bevacizumab with their induction chemotherapy will continue to receive bevacizumab on this study.
NCT01533181
The purpose of this study is to evaluate how OSI-906 compares to Topotecan in trying to slow down the growth and/or progression of the tumors of participants with relapsed or recurrent Small Cell Lung Cancer. This study also plans to find out what effects, good or bad (side effects), OSI-906 has on participants and or Small Cell Lung Cancer. The study will also investigate if some proteins measured in the blood or tumor and some imaging features obtained from computed tomography (CT) scans can help predict whether OSI-906 or topotecan will be effective against Small Cell Lung Cancer.
NCT00080873
RATIONALE: Traumeel® S (a mouth rinse) may be effective in preventing or decreasing the severity of oral mucositis caused by chemotherapy in young patients who are undergoing stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well Traumeel® S works in preventing or treating mucositis in young patients who are receiving chemotherapy with or without total-body irradiation before undergoing stem cell transplantation.
NCT01200797
This phase II trial is studying how well SJG-126 works in treating patients with epithelial ovarian, primary peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer that did not respond to previous treatment with cisplatin or carboplatin. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as SJG-136, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing.
NCT00056069
RATIONALE: Studying the physical and emotional needs of parents who are caring for children receiving chemotherapy for cancer may help doctors plan effective treatments for the patient that allow for improved quality of life of the patient's family. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying the different physical and emotional needs of parents whose children are undergoing chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia either in an outpatient clinic or in the hospital.
NCT01093222
This phase II trial is studying how well giving sorafenib tosylate together with erlotinib hydrochloride works in treating patients with locally advanced, unresectable, or metastatic gallbladder cancer or cholangiocarcinoma. Sorafenib tosylate and erlotinib hydrochloride may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth or by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
NCT00595920
The purpose of this study is to further evaluate the safety and efficacy of Tovaxin in the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.
NCT00409188
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the cancer vaccine tecemotide (L-BLP25) in addition to best supportive care is effective in prolonging the lives of subjects with unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer, compared to best supportive care alone. A local ancillary (sub) study in European centers will evaluate the immune response in peripheral blood after tecemotide (L-BLP25) or placebo vaccination.
NCT00112346
The primary purpose of this study is to estimate the number of patients with non-small cell lung cancer whose tumor responds to the treatments given in this study.
NCT00609804
This is a randomized, open-label, multi-center, Phase II study of treatment of patients with advanced NSCLC who have progressed on erlotinib with the combination of sorafenib and erlotinib or sorafenib alone.
NCT00738881
This randomized phase III trial studies pemetrexed disodium to see how well it works compared with erlotinib hydrochloride as second-line therapy in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other places in the body. Pemetrexed disodium and erlotinib hydrochloride may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known whether pemetrexed disodium is more effective than erlotinib hydrochloride in treating advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT01203475
This study was a multicenter, prospective cohort study to define postnatal longitudinal growth for very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. The objectives were: 1) to develop postnatal growth curves for VLBW preterm infants that would permit an assessment of growth velocity; 2) to relate growth velocity and nutritional practices (duration of parenteral nutrition, age at first enteral feeding, and age at full enteral feeding); 3) to compare growth velocity in infants who are small-for-gestational age (SGA) with infants who are appropriate-for-gestational age (AGA); and 4) to relate growth velocity to several common, major morbidities, including chronic lung disease (CLD), nosocomial infection (or late-onset infection) and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). These growth data may be useful in identifying preterm infants who are growing slowly despite current nutritional support and in designing and performing clinical trials of nutritional interventions.
NCT02064829
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate bioequivalence of IG-001 versus nab-paclitaxel in female patients with metastatic or locally recurrent breast cancer. In addition, the study will compare the safety and tolerance of IG-001 and nab-paclitaxel during the bioequivalence 2-period crossover portion of the study. The study will also evaluate the long-term safety of IG-001 over repeated cycles, up to 4 additional cycles of administration.
NCT01121575
Lung cancer tumors become resistant to the first generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors erlotinib or gefitinib by changing and increasing the activity of two cell signaling pathways: the cMET pathway and the EGFR pathway. Both resistance mechanisms can occur at the same time, in the same patient and even in the same tumor. This study combines a second generation EGFR inhibitor and a cMET inhibitor to block both these pathways in order to overcome resistance and treat this disease.
NCT00802841
There is no available data on the clinical benefit of dose escalation for patients with suboptimal response to imatinib, and patients may still improve their response with continuation of therapy at the standard dose as shown in the IRIS trial after 5 years of follow-up. However, there is no data yet regarding the potential benefit of using nilotinib in the group of patients with suboptimal response. In this study, the efficacy of nilotinib 400mg BID will be compared to imatinib 600mg QD.
NCT00003636
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining surgery with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy before surgery is more effective than chemotherapy after surgery in treating ovarian, peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying chemotherapy given before surgery to see how well it works compared to chemotherapy given after surgery with or without additional surgery in treating patients with stage III or stage IV ovarian cancer, peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer.
