The purpose of this study is to examine the feasibility and acceptability of and patient adherence to a telephone-administered cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention for anxiety in older adults (65 years and older) with cancer and their primary informal caregiver. This study will also examine whether the intervention has a clinically significant impact on patient anxiety (primary outcome) and depression, distress, and quality of life (secondary outcomes).

To evaluate the feasibility, tolerability and efficacy of Magnetic Seizure Therapy (MST) in elderly patients with a major depressive episode, who are randomly assigned to receive an acute course of MST or ECT. The investigators hypothesize: 1. MST and ECT will have similar antidepressant efficacy 2. MST will have less post-treatment amnesia than ECT as reflected in a primary measures of anterograde and retrograde amnesia following the acute treatment phase. 3. At follow up, MST will show a lesser degree of persisting deficit in measures of retrograde amnesia than ECT.

A sample of 60 patients scheduled for HSCT in the treatment of MM will be recruited in the weeks to months prior to their hospitalization. Light therapy incorporating ambient Programmed Environmental Illumination (PEI) will be used in patient hospital rooms (during scheduled transplant) to control cancer-related fatigue (CRF). The FDA has certified that light therapy, like that used in this study, is a low-risk intervention. When admitted to the hospital for a stem cell transplant, there will be a light fixture in the hospital room which the researchers will be testing to see how it may affect cancer related fatigue, sleep quality, and other negative side effects often seen with the transplant and subsequent treatment. The light fixture will turn on and off by itself in the morning. There are two treatment arms used in the study, each of the arms uses different light intensities. The study treatment received, i.e. which of the two lights, will be chosen by chance, like flipping a coin. There is an equal chance of being given each study treatment. Participants will not be told which study treatment they are getting until after the study is completed. Each light will be turned on from 7 AM to 10AM every day during transplantation. While in the hospital, assessment of fatigue, sleep activity, depression, circadian rhythms, and quality of life will continue through the course of hospitalization (14-21 days of treatment, to determine immediate impact of sPI), then repeat at one month and three months post-discharge follow-ups (to determine lasting effects). Outcomes will be assessed through standardized scales (e.g., FACIT-Fatigue Scale) and objective measures (e.g., actigraphy, daysimeter for light monitoring, melatonin from urine collection, blood inflammatory markers, all explained below). This trial will: 1) be the first randomized clinical trial (RCT) to investigate the effects of sPI to prevent CRF and other biopsychosocial side effects of transplant; 2) focus on a distinct, relatively homogenous patient population (MM-HSCT patients) with high prevalence of CRF; and 3) explore possible circadian rhythm mediation via melatonin analysis and blood analysis. This investigation will have major public health relevance as it will determine if an inexpensive and low patient burden intervention (sPI) is able to control fatigue associated with medical illnesses and related problems.

The purpose of this study is to test the effects of the medication ketamine and the medication called nitroprusside in patients with major depression. Ketamine has both good and bad effects. Some studies have shown that ketamine improves depression. However, studies have also shown that it causes strange and sometimes unpleasant sensations referred to "psychotic" or "dissociative" symptoms. An example of a psychotic symptom would be hearing or seeing something that in reality is not there. The study team would like to see if nitroprusside can prevent the reported bad effects of ketamine without blocking the reported good effects. This might make ketamine a better treatment for depression.

The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) vs. Treatment as Usual (TAU) for depression and anxiety symptoms in breast cancer patients in recovery. Investigators will examine whether MBCT-related improvements in sleep quality, illness-related distress, and rumination (escalating cycles of negative thinking) predict MBCT-related decreases in depression and anxiety symptoms (Aim 2). Exploratory analyses will examine whether demographics (e.g., age, sex, race/ethnicity), individual differences (e.g., perceived stress, social support), clinical characteristics (e.g., stage/severity of diagnosis), and treatment adherence (e.g., sessions attended, hours of weekly practice) help determine for whom MBCT is most effective (Aim 3).

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, two-arm parallel, single-center study. One hundred subjects (50 in each arm) will be enrolled. Subjects, between the ages 18 and 65, undergoing laparoscopic gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy will be recruited and consented during the preadmission visit prior to surgery.

This study is designed to compare the effectiveness of two medications, Ketamine and Midazolam, for rapidly relieving suicidal thoughts in people suffering from bipolar depression. The first drug, ketamine, is an experimental antidepressant that early studies have shown may quickly reduce suicidal thoughts, but we are not sure how well it may work. Midazolam, the comparison drug, is not thought to reduce depression or suicidal thoughts.

1. Investigators aim to assess a novel behavioral intervention (currently approved in Protocol #6285) behavioral intervention that promotes maternally-mediated behavioral changes in young infants to reduce the risk of postpartum depression in a group of low income women. More specifically, investigators aim to determine if a behavioral intervention targeting maternal caregiving of young infants can increase infant sleep and reduce fuss/cry behavior and thereby: (1) reduce the incidence and/or severity of postpartum maternal depression in low socioeconomic status (SES) women, and (2) improve the quality of mother-infant interaction and subsequent child development. Investigators will study: 1. The feasibility of applying this protocol with a low SES population 2. The effectiveness of the intervention compared to usual care 3. If the effects of the intervention can be detected in assessments of the quality of mother-infant interaction and infant neurocognitive development 2. Investigators aim to determine whether this behavioral intervention can affect infant development as measured by neurodevelopmental assessments and cortisol reactivity at 4 months of age.

In this randomized clinical trial, subjects will be assigned to either an assay-guided treatment condition (AGT) or a treatment-as-usual condition (TAU). All subjects will provide a DNA sample at the Screening Visit for the Genecept Assay ™. In the AGT condition, assay results will be provided to the treating investigator, who will use the results to guide antidepressant pharmacotherapy. In the TAU condition, the investigator will treat the subjects without the knowledge of the pharmacogenetic testing results. Assay results for all subjects will be provided to the investigator once all Week 8 visit procedures have been completed. Raters of the primary endpoint assessment and subjects will remain blinded to treatment assignment.

The investigators will recruit adolescents with alcohol or cannabis abuse and clinically significant depression. All participants will receive 12 sessions of an evidence-based treatment for alcohol abuse, Motivation Enhancement Therapy/Cognitive Behavior Therapy-12, over 12 to 14 weeks. Those who are still depressed after 4 weeks will be randomized to receive treatment augmentation with either an integrated cognitive behavior therapy for depression, delivered by their study therapist, or depression treatment-as-usual in the community. The study hypothesis is that integrated depression treatment will surpass community treatment-as-usual in efficacy.

The article presents a protocol of a cross-sectional study of mental health of pregnant women in relation to the COVID 19 pandemic. The primary aim is to compare differences in anxiety and depression scores of pregnant women between countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The secondary aim is to assess demographic, economic, and social aspects affecting maternal anxiety and depression scores among pregnant women worldwide in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, investigators will be able to compare differences in perception of the different aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic (social distancing, restrictions related to delivery) between countries and according to the epidemic status (number of infected patients, number of reported deaths). The comparisons will also be done according to COVID-19 status of the participants.
